Florence vertical 1250 series mailboxes have been a staple for mail delivery in small apartment communities for decades. However, vertical mailboxes are not approved for new installations. The USPS requires properties upgrade to current standards when any remodel or renovation occurs to the property. Any remodel big or small should drive an upgrade to CBU or 4C mailboxes. Available in fully-recessed models, or surface mount options, these small profile mailboxes are designed to fit into areas with minimal wall-space. As these units are top-loading, they should be protected from the weather by installing indoors or under a covered area safe from the weather.

As Cited from the USPS Postal Bulletin:
The Postal Service approves USPS-STD-4B+ boxes for mail delivery for existing indoor installations or existing protected outdoor locations. However, the Postal Service does not approve the purchase of this equipment for new installations and will not install Arrow locks in any such equipment. You may only order replacement parts for previously installed Postal Service-owned equipment.
